Chapter 1147 - 798: Commission and Expansion
The expeditionary force had just landed at the port.Everything had to proceed in an orderly fashion, so in the first few days the Adventurers mainly adapted to life here and formed a rough idea of the dangers in this area.
It hadn’t even taken a few days.
The Core Area of the [Warship Port] had already taken shape.
After building large-scale structures and cities multiple times, the Night Watchers’ construction techniques were now far ahead.
They had completely pulled away from the other powers in this world by an insurmountable gulf.
Still, the Adventurers were more or less used to it by now; even if the Night Watchers made something rise out of the ground overnight, they wouldn’t be surprised.
Magic Guide lights illuminated the wide, level work square, the neatly arranged prefab barracks, the humming resource processing center, and the command tower serving as the hub.
All of these had sprung up in a short time, and they weren’t some casually thrown-together tents, but real buildings, their surfaces gleaming with a Metal sheen and giving off an extremely reassuring sense of solidity.
On the outer edge of the port, defensive watchtowers and Energy Shield Generators stretched out like a forest of steel, connecting with the edge of the initial safe zone demarcated by the Night Watcher exploration teams.
This area had been efficiently divided into clear grid blocks by the Night Watcher Logistics Department, and the numbered map was being updated in real time on the giant announcement crystal board in the center of the port.
As Datafication went deeper.
Information like this could then be directly synchronized into the Adventurers’ maps; how well that would work depended on Kana’s growth in strength and how Bobo’s [Earthly Divine Kingdom] plan progressed.
Its main objective was a full expansion of Datafication and highly elevated permissions.
Port center, Task Hall.
A spacious hall rapidly assembled from prefab Metal modules, now buzzing with voices and brimming with energy.
In essence this was still the same setup as the Adventurer’s House, so Adventurers moved here like fish in water, as if they had returned home.
Although everyone knew the Adventurer’s House was a subordinate force of the Night Watchers, for many people, the Adventurer’s House was the Adventurer’s House and the Night Watchers were the Night Watchers—they were different.
So having a tavern in the Adventurer’s House style put them much more at ease.
On the huge projected light screen, dense lists of missions scrolled by, categorized into: extermination, scouting, gathering, alchemical mixing, and frontier development.
Mission difficulty ran from light green (low risk) to glaring dark red (highly dangerous zones).
The Adventurers—from three-to-five-man Low Level Warrior-Mage parties, to well-equipped mid-sized Mercenary Corps with fully staffed Professions, and even the clearly more imposing Elite groups—
All crowded around the light screen, or went to the Night Watchers’ reception counters to quickly handle mission pickup and handover.
"Bustling" was the word for this place.
Because today.
With the complete establishment of the forward base, the exploration ahead finally had a reasonable framework and plan.
The Adventurers could finally move; after these few days, they had long been itching for action.
"Hey! Hogg, look at this. Block D-7, ’Jagged Marsh Zone’, marked with a nest of ’Giant Bone-Eroding Pangolin (Mutant)’. Count 12–15, Contribution Points are pretty high!"
On young Wolf’s lupine face was unrestrained excitement as he pointed at a task highlighted in red on the light screen.
Not many Adventurers could take on this kind of mission; after all, most Adventurers’ Level really wasn’t that great.
High Level Adventurers had already become renowned powerhouses in certain regions back when the Adventurer’s House hadn’t yet become widespread.
These two Beastmen were exactly at that stage.
So they had confidence in completing this mission, because the Night Watchers’ planning of mission difficulty was extremely clear and detailed.
If, after seeing such detailed information, you still didn’t recognize your own strength and blindly took missions, then you could only be said to deserve death.
Hogg, the Beastman with huge tusks, rested the Enchanted Giant Axe he had exchanged for from the Night Watcher Logistics Department on his shoulder, and merely grunted at these words.
But battle intent flashed in his eyes: "Just a bunch of burrowing pangolin rats. We’re taking it! Time to test this new axe."
He squeezed up to the reception counter and reported, in a rough voice, the squad number for himself and Wolf.
The Night Watcher clerical staffer, expressionless, operated quickly on the crystal board, then handed him a Metal token etched with the mission code and block information.
"Reception complete. The mission area map and biological weak point analysis have been synced to your personal channel. Recommended to carry high-grade Corrosion Neutralizer."
The information was really thorough.
Even more thorough than what a normal Adventurer’s House would provide—was this the Night Watchers’ level of professionalism?
Most Adventurers had never experienced such comprehensive intel; naturally they felt a bit out of place.
It all felt somewhat unreal.
Hogg grabbed the token and shoved it into his chest, muttering, "Yeah yeah, got it!"
He dragged the still-studying Wolf off to the storeroom to apply for supplies—mainly a big barrel of foul-smelling Neutralizer.
On the other side, Elf Mage Liya and the Old Dwarf Bono were talking with a descendant of a Forest Tree-man, who wore a light green Alchemy Magic Robe and carried a huge crystal bottle on his back.
The Tree-man’s gentle voice rustled like wind through leaves: "...Block C-5’s ’Whispering Forest’, the Magic Power fluctuations in the central area have twisted abnormally, causing some plants to produce strong hallucinogenic spores. We need a team adept in Magic Power harmonization and environmental restoration."
Liya’s slender fingers tapped the miniature map projected from her tactical wristband: "The node locations are already marked. According to the Night Patrol report, the source of the distortion might be a small ancient leyline node that’s been corrupted by Chaos Magic Power.
