Chapter 81: So Hide on bush is Faker
Chapter 81: So Hide on bush is Faker
The training room suddenly became lively.
Ning jumped up from his chair: "No, Coach, are you serious? Faker! The Demon King! Lee Sang-hyeok! Three-time world champion! A legend of League of Legends!"
Baolan also joined the discussion, which was rare for him: "Coach, don't you usually watch Korean matches? Faker's Zed, the double Zed battle, that famous scene."
"And his Galio." JackeyLove chimed in, getting more and more excited as he spoke: "I still remember that Galio from the S7 World Championship. He single-handedly carried the whole team into the finals."
"Baolan, you're talking about something from so far back, even the coach might not have known about League of Legends back then." Ning interrupted, standing directly in front of Chen Song and gesturing with his hands to indicate the name:
"Coach, is that how you understand it? In the mid lane, Faker is Jordan, he's Pele, he's..."
"He's the person Forge and Rookie both want to be," Baolan added casually.
Forge scratched his head sheepishly but didn't argue.
Chen Song instinctively wanted to ask who Jordan was, but fortunately he stopped himself in time and didn't ask.
He couldn't help but laugh as he watched how excited each of them was.
He genuinely didn't know Faker, but he certainly couldn't explain why he didn't know him. Was he supposed to tell them that he had traveled from another time?
"Alright, alright." Chen Song waved his hand: "I'll remember that, Faker, the god of mid lane."
"That's a very dismissive answer," JackeyLove said, dissatisfied. "Coach, are you genuinely unaware or are you joking?"
"I really don't know."
Chen Song shook his head: "When I study players, I only look at their stats and playing style; I don't pay much attention to their fame or ID."
TheShy then slowly tilted his head to the right and said in his signature languid tone, "Coach... Faker's Ryze... is amazing!"
TheShy's Chinese is always brief, but when he says "very impressive," it carries a different weight.
Seeing this, JackeyLove immediately seized the opportunity: "Coach, look, even TheShy said that! Think about who TheShy has ever praised before?"
Before Chen Song could react, Ning chimed in, "Yeah, Coach, why don't you watch TheShy's OB footage for this game, see how Faker plays, and learn from him?"
"Learn from him? Why would I learn from him?" Chen Song was both amused and exasperated. "I'm not a mid-laner."
"Then you have to do your research, right?" JackeyLove said impatiently, "We're about to run into him."
Chen Song waved his hand: "No matter how strong Faker is, he is still a player with habits, preferences, and patterns that can be followed."
Ning and JackeyLove exchanged a glance, their faces reflecting a complex mix of emotions: "The coach seems to be saying something that makes a lot of sense, but I still think it's ridiculous that he doesn't know Faker."
It's like this person is an idol to all of us, but why have you never even heard of them?
In the end, Baolan smoothed things over: "Alright, alright, the coach is right. Don't take it so seriously. Those who need to play ranked games should play ranked games, and those who need to practice new heroes should practice new heroes."
Everyone then returned to their seats, and the sounds of keyboards and mice began to fill the air.
JackeyLove was clearly still in shock. As he opened a ranked game, he whispered to Baolan next to him, "Do you think the coach is faking it? Are there really people in the League of Legends industry who don't know Faker?"
Baolan didn't turn his face away: "I was also surprised, but judging from the coach's expression, it didn't seem like he was faking it. Maybe he really didn't know Faker."
JackeyLove thought about it and realized that Baolan's words made sense.
Sitting in his seat, Chen Song opened a new webpage and typed a few letters into the search bar.
【Faker】
The screen light illuminated his face, and TheShy had already entered the game next to him. Chen Song caught a glimpse of that ID out of the corner of his eye.
Hide on bush
So that's the ID!
Chen Song withdrew his gaze and began looking at Faker's profile again.
"Faker, whose real name is Lee Sang-hyeok, was born on May 7, 1996, in Seoul, South Korea..."
Chen Song's gaze swept across the rows, initially remaining relatively calm.
Then he saw the "Major Achievements" section:
"2013 League of Legends World Championship Winner"
"2015 League of Legends World Championship Winner"
"2016 League of Legends World Championship Winner"
"2013 League of Legends World Championship Runner-up"
LCK League Champion
"World Championship Finals MVP"
......
Chen Song scrolled his mouse wheel down one, two, three notches.
The page is far from bottoming out.
His hand held firm.
The densely packed list of honors on the screen stretched out before me like a wall, each line silently stating the fact that this person had been dominating the game all along.
What's even more remarkable is his personal lifestyle: he's frugal, focused on training, and has never had a girlfriend.
No, even someone like me who has traversed the Grand Slam couldn't do that.
Are you sure you didn't travel from another time?
I need to find some time to try and get some information out of him.
Driven by curiosity, Chen Song searched for recent LCK matches involving SKT. He randomly clicked on the most recent match, which was SKT vs. GRF.
The video loads; it's the original artwork for the SKT vs. GRF match on June 22nd, 2019 LCK Summer Split.
Two domestic commentators were sitting in the commentary booth.
As the comments flooded in, Chen Song noticed some numbers: SKT had a record of 1 win and 4 losses in the Summer Split, ranking third from the bottom; GRF had a record of 4 wins and 1 loss, ranking first in the league.
SKT, the Spring Split champions, just two months ago swept GRF 3-0 to lift the trophy, but now they are standing on the edge of a cliff.
Chen Song seemed to be deep in thought. Wasn't this script exactly the same as IG's?
He unconsciously flipped through the notebook on the table and wrote some words in it:
[Mindset? Version adaptation? Problems with the drafting strategy?]
The screen switches to the business process (BP) phase.
Blue side SKT, red side GRF.
Both sides have already banned the following champions: Yuumi, Sona, Akali, Azir, Karma, and Kalista.
Furthermore, SKT's first pick was Sejuani, while GRF got Aatrox and Karthus.
Chen Song sighed inwardly; SKT's pick was a tough one.
It's fine to actively snatch up the Pig Girl.
But given LCK's game style, which is primarily based on strategy, a single Karthus spell from the opponent can teach you a lesson.
Karthus is a jungler who is relatively weak in the early game. He prefers to face junglers who are more passive, like Sejuani, as this allows Karthus to farm comfortably.
Furthermore, the position of Aatrox is also an excellent choice.
SKT quickly picked Irelia and Lux in their next two picks.
In the final lineup, SKT on the blue side locked in Camille for top lane, Sejuani for jungle, Irelia for mid lane, and Varus and Lux for bot lane.
GRF, the red team, drafted Jayce for top lane, Karthus for jungle, Aatrox for mid lane, and Xayah and Tahm Kench for bot lane.
"It's all about control," is Chen Song's assessment of SKT's lineup.
"Very flexible," is Chen Song's assessment of the GRF lineup.
After the lineup is locked, the players' screens will appear sequentially, starting with the top laner.
When Chen Song switched to the mid lane, he deliberately pressed the pause button. He stared at Faker for a full five seconds before continuing to play.
