Chapter 588: Aftermath of Mo Shiyun Death
Chapter 588: Aftermath of Mo Shiyun Death
Mo Shiyun’s body did not remain on the stone pillar. With a soft, rustling sound, her ancient form completely crumbled into a pile of fine grey dust, sliding down the stone to pool at the base of the pillar. The purple demonic fire that had lit up her eyes vanished, leaving only a heavy, dead silence in the ruined chamber.
At the base of the dust pile, several items suddenly dropped. They glowed with bright crimson and golden light, standing out sharply against the dark stone of the tomb.
Gabriel walked over, his heavy leather boots clicking softly against the stone.
Behind him, Liang, Evelyn, IceQueen, and the other survivors of Broken Dawn and Olympus watched him in absolute, terrified silence. Nobody dared to take a single deep breath. To them, Gabriel was an untouchable monster who had just systematically dismantled a historical legend in less than three minutes.
Gabriel calmly looked down at the physical drops on the floor. In a single, smooth motion, he picked them up:
The Bone Mask of Mo Shiyun (An ancient relic).
The Ancient Demonic Scripture (A dark, heavy scroll containing her forbidden skills and historical records).
Blood Red Soul Crystals (High tier, extremely rare crafting materials).
He swept the items directly into his inventory. To the onlookers, it looked like normal game looting, something every player did after defeating a boss. No one suspected that he had a secret SSS rank [Extraction] talent and would extract the true power of these items later in private.
Once the loot was secured, Gabriel turned around.
He walked over to the corner of the room where the broken Liang and Evelyn lay. The two cultivators shivered involuntarily as his massive, dark shadow fell over them. Liang’s chest was completely shattered, and his internal qi meridians were permanently ruptured. He was now a permanent cripple, stripped of all the power he had spent decades cultivating.
Gabriel stood over them, his blue eyes staring down coldly from behind his white phantom mask.
"The Martial Palace and the Emperor..." Gabriel’s flat, cold voice cut through the silence. "Why did they invite us here?"
Liang let out a weak, dry chuckle that quickly turned into a violent cough, blood spilling over his lips. He looked up at Gabriel with hollow, bloodshot eyes that were filled with deep bitterness and rage.
"I don’t know the full details..." Liang whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. "I was... I was just a pawn. But I understand now. My own elders... my own Emperor... they lied to us. There was no ancestral trial. There was no inheritance."
He clutched the cracked stone floor, his nails bleeding.
"They sent us here as high grade fuel to feed the spike. Our energy reserves were the highest on the continent, and the spike needed to be recharged. We were never meant to leave this place alive. We were meant to die to keep the seal strong."
Evelyn lay beside him, her hands clutched against her chest. The realization of betrayal by their own rulers had completely shattered their spirits.
Hearing his words, Gabriel’s eyes narrowed slightly beneath his mask.
Using his knowledge of the game’s future and his memories from his past life, the puzzle pieces instantly clicked together in his mind.
’So my memories of the future were correct,’ Gabriel thought, his mind cool and analytical as he recalled something he had seen on the forums years ago.
However, he had never paid much attention to it. Fortunately, because of the stat boost, his memory had become exceptionally retentive, allowing him to remember how the post had gone.
’The Tianlan Imperial Family... their supreme Golden Dragon Qi is drawn directly from the siphoned energy of this sleeping god. That is why they sacrifice their geniuses. Their entire empire is built on a lie.’
If the spike remained active, the continent would stay stable, but the geniuses of every generation would be fed to the nail like firewood. And the Imperial Family would maintain their absolute, god like rule forever.
Gabriel looked down at the crippled Liang and Evelyn.
"Do you want revenge?" Gabriel asked softly.
Liang’s bloodshot eyes flashed with a sudden, manic hatred.
"Revenge? My sect destroyed my future... they made me a cripple for a lie. If I can survive this... I will tear the Imperial Capital to the ground myself."
"Then survive," Gabriel said, his voice flat but carrying a cold tone. "Because when we return... I am going to overthrow the Tianlan Empire. And you are going to help me."
Liang and Evelyn stared at him in complete, stunned silence. They had seen his monstrous strength, and they knew his words were not an empty boast.
Gabriel did not speak further. He turned away from them as his gaze landed on the far end of the archway.
Directly ahead of him stood a set of massive, ancient iron doors. They were ten meters tall, covered in heavy black chains and ancient geometric markings. Beyond those doors lay the absolute center of the tomb, the Core Suppressing Chamber where the giant spike was anchored.
The siphoning pressure leaking from the seams of the doors was incredibly dense, but under Gabriel’s skin, his [Hex Lock of the Ancestors] passive hummed in perfect alignment with the frequency.
He did not head back to the exit. He walked directly toward the massive iron gates.
"What are you doing?" Liang called out weakly from behind him, his voice filled with worry. "The pressure beyond those doors... it’s too dangerous."
Gabriel did not answer. He stopped directly in front of the towering iron doors.
He raised both hands and placed his palms flat against the cold, heavy metal of the gates.
With over 500 points in Strength, Gabriel exerted a massive physical force. His muscles tensed, and a sudden aura flared around his hands, clashing with the dark runes on the doors.
SKRRRRRRR—
The heavy iron doors groaned. The ancient black chains wrapped around them rattled violently, sparking as they were forcefully stretched.
With a deafening metallic grind, the grand doors to the Core Suppressing Chamber were slowly pushed open.
FWOOOOOOSH!
The moment the gates cracked open, a blinding, raw white light and a terrifying wave of absolute siphoning pressure spilled out of the crevice, swallowing Gabriel’s figure completely as he stepped forward into the heart of the tomb.
