Chapter 75 The Maiden and the Messenger of God
Chapter 75 The Maiden and the Messenger of God
Within Liang Jiu's divine realm, the winds of the wasteland swept across the land.
The warriors of the Sinker were cleaning up the battlefield. Several pack animals and a group of soldiers worked together to push the huge captured catapults off the halfling position, turned them around, and carried them back the way they came.
Chang walked at the front of the group and nudged Xin Zang next to him with his arm.
"It's time to go back. If you ask me, you should let the craftsmen study these big things instead of focusing all your time and effort on that unique weapon. You should spend more time on other things."
"We simply don't have the right materials... The gods have approved my decision, and I believe their appearance will change our war," Shinzo replied.
Chang looked into Xinzang's eyes. Those eyes were bright, as if flames were dancing within them. Even though he was already the father of two grown children, he still possessed that pure divinity, unlike the naive boy he remembered from back then. He didn't seem to be troubled by trivial matters after becoming the King of Men; on the contrary, he had taken another step forward on the path of the extraordinary.
"No wonder the gods chose you to be their leader. Perhaps you really can do a better job than Xin..." Chang said with emotion.
Upon hearing this, Xin Zang turned his head. He rarely heard his father's name from Chang's mouth. Even the children in the clan could tell that Xin had always been the person Chang respected the most.
"Father? Uncle Chang, my father, what kind of person was he?"
"You must possess some of his memories, so why not seek the answer within your own heart?"
"I want to know how you see him," Shinzo said.
"Hmm?" Chang scratched his head. "How do I see him? Xin? Powerful, silent, a great warrior, the original leader of all the elders in the tribe, a legend who received the fire from the gods when he was young."
Xin Zang looked at him and said helplessly, "Uncle Chang, you know that my Heartfire has the ability to read minds..."
Chang stopped speaking, his expression somewhat unnatural.
"What an annoying ability. You actually used your ability against me, you brat. I really don't know what that half-drow girl could have thought of you."
Xin Cang smiled and shrugged.
This action reassured Chang somewhat.
He still looks somewhat like a young man, the veteran thought.
He sighed and answered Shinobu's question.
"Your father was a cold man. Apart from training his people, he spent most of his time thinking with his single hand. He always had secrets, a lonely king... or an incompetent father."
Are you subtly criticizing me?
"Do you think you'll change just because you know? I can't control you anymore."
The two fell silent and continued marching with the army.
As the tire tracks rolled across the land, the desert gradually receded, green fields filled the view, and the scene before us became clear.
The warriors of the Sin Clan, having endured countless battles, raised their heads. Before them, the outline of their own city stood tall on the horizon.
The newly built city walls, constructed of mud and stone, were greeted by the Xin tribe's guards who sounded the horns signaling the return of warriors.
Outside the city gate, clansmen who had heard of the great victory had already gathered there. The crowd was bustling and eagerly awaiting the return of their family members.
Just then, a dazzling silver streak of light slid down from the clouds.
As the nominal messenger of the Salaried Clan, Jane had no airs whatsoever. It was hurtling straight down from the sky like an out-of-control meteor toward the city gate.
"Wuhu—I'm back!" (≧▽≦)/
Cheerful electronic music echoed above the city gate. The metal box drew a long, beautiful arc in mid-air, and the Porsche emblem on its top, which seemed to have been acquired from nowhere, gleamed in the sunlight, showcasing its owner's joy.
Unfortunately, a bird flying overhead, clearly unaccustomed to such a sight, crashed straight into Jian, knocking off her most prized car emblem.
The metal box lost its balance in mid-air and hurriedly turned its blocky body around.
"You stinky bird!" (╬Ò‸Ó)
Jane angrily cursed, and garbled text flashed on the screen. It frantically maneuvered in mid-air, its divine power transforming into tentacles that waved wildly as it frantically tried to grab the car logo in mid-air, finally managing to press it back onto its head with great difficulty.
However, this ordeal caused it to completely lose control of its forward momentum and speed. The silver cube transformed into a solid iron ball and crashed straight down towards the crowd waiting for the procession.
Just as it was about to hit the ground, a handsome young woman wearing soft armor ran out from the crowd.
The girl moved nimbly, dashing out of the line in a few steps. She lunged forward, arms outstretched, and caught the out-of-control Jane, pulling her into her arms.
The immense inertia caused the man and the block to roll several times on the muddy ground, raising a cloud of dust.
Immediately afterwards, the girl's clear laughter mingled with Jane's electronically synthesized complaints, echoing outside the city gate.
On the ground, Xin'an hugged the iron box with both arms, his fingers scratching randomly on its outer shell.
"Hehehe, Xin'an, stop tickling me!" Jane pleaded dramatically.
Xin An couldn't stop laughing: "Silly Jane, you're different from everyone else, you don't feel itchy at all."
(╬Ò‸Ó)
Characters popped up on the screen, and Jane protested loudly, "You should call me the great Lord Jane! Attendant Xin'an, I now order you to let me go! Stop playing around, I'm itchy."
The girl and the robot rolled and played in the open space outside the city gate, completely ignoring the warriors and tribesmen passing by.
Just then, a young man dressed in priestly robes approached. He stopped beside them, looked at the two rolling on the ground, and said with some helplessness, "Sister, the gods have issued several divine decrees, instructing you, as the guardian messenger, to be more solemn."
Upon hearing this, Jian flew out of Xin An's arms and hovered in mid-air. It activated the holographic projector, and amidst the interplay of light and shadow, projected a miniature version of Xin Wu directly into the air.
The holographic projection of Xiao Xinwu, with a straight face, imitated his words in a stiff and old-fashioned voice: "Sister, be more dignified."

As the triumphant symbols flashed on the screen, Xin'an laughed even louder, and the playful girl and the cube seemed even happier.
Seeing his sister's complete lack of remorse, Xinwu gave up on verbal persuasion. He gazed at his father ahead of the marching column.
A dark golden light shone from the boy's fingertips, igniting a fire in his heart. The message traveled along the light of that fire to Shinzo's ears.
"You should go home more often and keep an eye on your sister."
Within the marching ranks, Xin Zang received a telepathic message from his son. Looking at his daughter making a ruckus outside the city gates, he also used his inner fire to send a reply back:
"She doesn't even listen to God, do you think she'll listen to me? You are all people favored by God, perhaps this is a privilege God has given her."
