Chapter 349: Clash Of Captains
Chapter 349: Clash Of Captains
Eve carefully stared at Jessica, analyzing the Sword Captain’s stance with a slight frown on her face, while Jessica stared back at her with a completely hollow, profoundly bored expression, as if looking at a training dummy.
Eve respectfully bowed at her, adhering to the etiquette, while Jessica simply drew her dark, ominous sword straight from her sheath, bypassing the formalities entirely.
"You aren’t the one I am planning to fight, just surrender." Jessica said in a flat, cold tone, as a volatile, corrosive red energy instantly surrounded her jagged blade.
’That isn’t a regular sword... It’s god class at most.’ Eve thought, staring nervously at Jessica. As the Captain of the Eagle Academy, she was the ultimate authority; no one was here to interfere, or utilize the new rule to stop the match. She had to give her absolute all to survive this.
"Yeah." Eve softly replied, ignoring the demand to surrender. She raised her elegant hand, and a massive, beautifully crafted Guzheng magically appeared hovering in her hand.
".....?!"
Jessica tilted her head in genuine confusion, her mind failing to register the instrument as a viable weapon, while the whole elite audience were equally dumbfounded by the choice.
"Let me play a tone for you."
Eve smoothly sat down directly on the hard stone ground, carefully placing the heavy, ancient instrument horizontally on her lap. Seeing her deliberate action, Blade immediately turned to their rest of the teammates: "You know what to do."
They nodded with deep urgency, and quickly brought out heavy earphones, securely wearing them to block their auditory canals.
Eve slowly exhaled, centering her energy, and placed her delicate hand firmly on the thickest string, and with a single, aggressive movement, she violently struck the first line.
DING!
A visible, highly compressed sound wave shot out from the ring like a physical battering ram, and smashed directly into Jessica’s unguarded front line. The sheer, concussive force instantly took her off her feet, entirely breaking her stance, and sent her violently flying backward through the air.
"Ahh!"
The entire massive audience screamed in agony, physically feeling the piercing pain from the residual sound wave echoing through the coliseum. No matter how powerful the barrier was, it fundamentally couldn’t block against sonic sound attacks.
Hayatobi and Mirabella worked instantly. Hayatobi slammed his hands down, rapidly layering another thick, sound-dampening barrier entirely around the audience, while Mirabella simultaneously projected her own aura, completely withstanding the localized sound wave and shielding her team.
Jessica landed roughly on the ground, sliding back several meters. She blinked away the disorientation, her expression shifting from bored to utterly furious, and slowly raised her hand to her ringing ear. Her dark eyes widened in profound surprised, seeing fresh, crimson blood on her fingers. Her blood. The indestructible captain had actually taken damage.
"How dare you." She muttered with viciously clenched teeth. The energy in the arena instantly turned violently corrosive, as the pristine skin on her forehead split violently opened, and the terrifying Mythic Eye moved out, locking onto Eve.
"You will pay!!!" She screamed.
Eve stared intently at the volatile, thick red energy rising violently around Jessica, her mind mapping out the structural spirit energy of the battlefield. Realizing the physical threat ahead of her, she placed both arms firmly on her guzheng, her slender fingers hovering over the silk strings as she started planning a complex, layered combat melody designed to completely suppress her opponent’s mobility.
With a rapid flurry of her fingers, the produced sound waves instantly materialized into physical, deadly blades of hyper-compressed wind around her, hovering in the air before they shot forward towards Jessica with terrifying velocity.
"You are so annoying!" Jessica said, her voice dropping into a dangerous, icy register. Ignoring the incoming spatial distortion, she shot forward, utilizing her movement technique to close the 50-meter distance with terrifying, explosive speed.
Eve closed her eyes, entirely focusing her perception on the acoustic vibrations of the arena, and violently smashed both her palms flat against the instrument’s sounding board.
BOOOOM!
The sonic resonance acting as a hyper-multiplier caused all the wind blades to shoot towards her with deadly speed, instantly breaking the sound barrier with a series of sonic booms as they rapidly closed the distance.
"Useless!!"
Jessica didn’t even break her stride. She casually swung her sword, effortlessly shattering the dense wind blades into harmless particles, not even slowing her massive forward momentum for a single microsecond, and kept moving straight through the explosion.
Eve opened her eyes, her pupils shrinking as she stared at the rapidly advancing figure of Jessica, then immediately tapped another rapid, rhythmic swing across the strings.
BAM!!
The genius counter-melody activated instantly; all the previously shattered wind blades violently turned into an overlapping wave of invisible sonic energy, reversing direction, and shot right back towards her.
"Huh?"
Jessica’s combat reflexes kicked in. She opened her left palm toward the blast, channeling her internal energy as a dense, glowing light shield materialized around her forearm.
BOOOOM!
The absolute force of the sonic waves smashed heavily into her light shield, sending violent, ripple-like vibrations all over its crystalline surface, pushing against her trajectory.
Nadia analyzed the trajectory with a cold gaze. ’She must be amongst the target.’ She thought.
__
On the arena floor, Jessica felt the impact rattling her hand, and cracked her neck, her boredom finally giving way to genuine irritation: "Seems I also need to get serious." Jessica raised her sword high above the air, her killing intent entirely fixed on Eve.
"Wind style - Blade dance."
BOOOOM!
The localized atmospheric pressure dropped to zero. The winds instantly formed massive, glowing crescent blades of compressed sword intent, and shot forward towards Eve, who frantically tapped her instrument, as a layered, geometric sound shield appeared before her.
BOOOM!
The heavy attack smashed brutally into the sound shield, cracking it. Jessica flawlessly used the blinding opportunity of the elemental dust cloud, and shot towards her through the air; her golden mythic eye spinning rapidly in the center of her forehead.
CRACK!
".....?!"
Eve suddenly felt the shift in the earth. She lowered her gaze to the stone floor she was sitting upon, noticing deep, web-like structural fissures appearing right beneath her, and quickly leaped high into the air, holding her instrument securely against her chest.
BOOOM!!
