Chapter 3650 Deathly Poison Sect
Chapter 3650 Deathly Poison Sect
Alex met with Bladedance the next day and headed out of the Sky God's palace along with her.Unlike her usual self, Bladedance wore a red robe that could be considered a bit too feminine for her. As a fighter, her clothes tended to be simple, with not much embroidery at all.
And yet, today she wore something that Alex could only ever imagine someone like Shumi wearing.
"Is there a reason for the way you're dressed, master?" Alex asked after a while, unable to bear the mystery.
Bladedance had a veil before her face, so Alex couldn't even see any expression on her face when he asked that question. "It's merely a precautionary measure to conceal my identity," she said. "We can't give Somberskull the slightest hint that I may have come along with you, so I need to dress in a way he could never expect me to."
Alex raised an eyebrow. "That's… not a bad idea. Does it also hide your aura? I'm not feeling anything at all."
"I have a necklace for that," Bladedance said.
Alex nodded. Once they arrived at the formation platform at the edge of the cliff, they teleported.
Somberskull's sect lay by a big city in the southwest of the realm. Due to his accomplishments during the war, the sect he built had grown to be one of the biggest sects of the Sky God's realm.
The sect went by the name of Deathly Poison Sect, situated at the northern end of Grimfall City. Some said the name of the city itself had been changed to what it was now due to Somberskull's influence as a Death Sage.
It took Alex and Bladedance 2 teleportations to arrive at Grimfall City. Upon arriving, Alex was surprised to see a lively atmosphere around the place, which did not match a city with the word 'Grim' in its name.
It was a city like any other, with commerce districts that held giant pavilions with stores that sold anything and everything. And it also held a residential district with tall pagodas and large courtyards to house people, depending on what people could afford.
There was another sect near the city, but from what Alex understood while in the city, the sect had little to no influence in the area at all as they were truly a tiny sect.
The Deathly Poison Sect, however, easily held a strong influence in the city, to the point that disciples of the sect, wearing black and green robes, could be seen walking around the streets with alert eyes.
They were seemingly keeping the city safe, working alongside the Sky God's guards in the city.
Judging from what Alex saw, he would be hard-pressed to tell just who it was that had more influence in the place among the two groups.
The Sky God's people certainly had them beat in terms of cultivation base, but in terms of influence? It could be either of them.
After finding a carriage, Alex and Bladedance were taken to the edge of the city where they finally saw the giant wall of the Deathly Poison Sect, along with a deep green aura that revealed a Wood energy barrier around the massive sect.
From the size of the barrier that lay around the sect, it very well could be its own city as well. While it was far from the biggest sect Alex had seen in his life, it most certainly was one of the biggest ones. Only a select few sects such as the Blue Silk Sect held a larger area.
As they got closer, a group of the sect's disciples stopped the carriage on the way to determine who it was that was heading for their sect.
Alex drew the curtains in his carriage and looked out. "We are here to meet senior Somberskull," he said.
The group was a little surprised. "Is our founder aware of your coming?" one of them asked.
"No. We haven't notified him in advance at all," Alex said. "Will that be a problem?"
"Perhaps," another one said. "Our founder could choose to stop you from entering if you didn't warn him of your coming first."
"That's fine," Alex said. "Would you mind telling him now?"
The few of them nodded. "And who should we say it is that wants to meet him?" one asked, ready with a talisman to send a message.
"Dawnblade."
Alex need not say more at all. The soldiers contacted their founder and a while later got a message back. The person who got the message looked a little disturbed. He slowly raised his eyes, staring directly at Alex.
"Our founder has asked us to ask you one question before we can proceed," the man said. "If you fail to give the correct answer, you must return whence you came from."
Alex was somewhat taken aback by this turn of events. He had expected his name to be enough to gain an audience with the man, but it seemed he wasn't as big as he thought he was.
"Alright, what do you want to know?" Alex asked.
"Your profession."
"My profession? I'm an Alchemist."
As soon as Alex uttered those words, the young man who had asked the question quickly moved aside. "That is all we needed to know. Thank you for coming to the Deathly Poison Sect. Please do not forget to have a pill on you at every moment so that you don't get poisoned inside the sect."
Alex smiled and thanked the man for his concerns. The group of soldiers gave clearance to the carriage, and it was set back on track, heading toward the sect once again.
As soon as Alex got closer to the sect, he started smelling a mixture of various poisons. They were mild enough that anyone Immortal realm and higher would not even have to worry about it at all.
But that wasn't the important part.
What was important was meeting Somberskull today, finding out whether he was the one they were looking for or not, and then leaving.
