Chapter 18 The Knight of Light
Chapter 18 The Knight of Light
The group got into the car and continued towards the police station.
"Gordon, are you sure Harvey is alright?"
Li Wei was still somewhat uneasy; the fact that they had been attacked meant that the plot hadn't changed much overall.
However, some minor changes indicate that the plot may change.
Li Wei couldn't quite describe how he felt about this change, but he hoped to change Harvey's fate.
At least let the Knights of Light continue to shine, and let there be no more two-faced people.
To be honest, Harvey was actually quite pitiful.
In an effort to woo Rachel, Harvey planned a week-long trip to take her out for a romantic candlelight dinner.
Bruce only needs to make one phone call to make him leave obediently—it's normal for someone else's property to be booked out by the owner and not open to the public.
I booked the opera tickets three weeks in advance, only to find out at the door that I couldn't go—Mr. Bruce had booked the whole place.
Even with Rachel, whom he had been pursuing relentlessly, Bruce could easily win her heart simply by taking off his bat costume.
All these things are too numerous to mention. Li Wei sighed softly, feeling some sympathy for Harvey.
"Don't worry, I've already arranged for city buses to transfer patients from the hospital."
Gordon maintained his stern expression. "I've sent two of my capable men over to Harvey's side. I'm sure he'll be fine."
...
Meanwhile, at Gotham City Central Hospital on the other side of the city.
"Davis, the car is ready, let's go."
A Black police officer called his partner and they set off to pick Harvey up in their car. They soon arrived at Harvey's hospital room.
Looking at the closed ward door, they exchanged a glance, both seeing a hint of reluctance in each other's eyes.
They had great respect for Harvey, the prosecutor who was dedicated to fighting crime.
As native residents of Gotham, they had long witnessed the chaos in the city.
As law enforcement officers, they were naturally aware of the corruption at the top of Gotham's hierarchy.
It's just a matter of ability, and they can only accept it helplessly.
However, Harvey's arrival in Gotham brought them hope—the hope of making Gotham a better place.
Therefore, when the citizens called Harvey the Knight of Light, they felt it was well-deserved.
However, when they heard that Harvey was refusing treatment because of the trauma he had suffered, they thought he was being paranoid.
They gently pushed open the door, and the scene inside surprised them.
At that moment, a nurse was standing in front of Harvey's bed in the ward, taking notes in a notebook.
This discovery surprised them, but they were happy for Harvey, who was finally willing to accept treatment.
"Madam, we need to move him out."
Davis reminded the nurse, and the two of them prepared to push Harvey away.
However, before they could approach, the nurse suddenly turned around and shot two police officers dead.
Although she was wearing a mask, her exposed face looked as if it was covered in white paint, and her eye sockets were deep black.
The nurse giving Harvey a medical checkup is none other than the Joker who just issued the death threat!
Harvey was lying in bed, feeling quite depressed due to the immense blow he had suffered.
Even when the Joker raised the hospital bed, he didn't react at all until the Joker took off his mask.
Upon seeing the Joker's face with its crimson smile, Harvey became excited.
However, he was tightly bound to the hospital bed and had no power to resist.
The Joker sat down beside the hospital bed, watching Harvey struggle. A rare look of struggle crossed his face, then he grinned and forced a smile.
"Hi."
Harvey was still struggling, but he was tightly bound and could do nothing.
The clown ripped off his wig, revealing his original dark green hair.
"You know, I don't want any distance between us, Harvey."
The clown, like a patient and encouraging teacher, is advising his students, "When you and..."
The clown suddenly stopped talking.
"Rachel!" Harvey was furious when he saw that the Joker had forgotten Rachel's name and roughly reminded him.
"Yes, Rachel... I was sitting in Gordon's little cell when Rachel was kidnapped."
The clown shrugged helplessly, looking utterly resigned. "It's not like I blew you up."
"Your people, your plans," Harvey said in a low voice, directly exposing the Joker.
"Do I really look like someone who has a plan?" The Joker turned to Harvey, a sheepish smile on his face.
"Do you know what I am? I'm more like a dog chasing a car."
Even if I do catch up, I don't know what to do with it.
You know what, I was just doing my job.
The Joker recounts his hardships, constantly using hand gestures to hint at Harvey's struggles.
"The gang has a plan, the cops have a plan, and Gordon has a plan too." The Joker stared at Harvey.
"They are all schemers trying to control their little world. I am not a schemer."
I just want to show the conspirators how pathetic their attempts to control everything really are.
The Joker looked sincerely at Harvey and took his hand.
"So when I say I'm not targeting you or your girlfriend, you know I'm telling the truth."
And is Rachel really your girlfriend? Has she come to see you in all this time, friend?
The Joker's last words deeply hurt Harvey, and it was clear he was very saddened.
After saying this, the Joker untied Harvey.
"You've been brought to this point by a schemer, and you were a schemer yourself."
You had a plan too, huh... just look at your current predicament.
As the clown spoke, he removed all the restraints from Harvey's body.
As soon as Harvey was freed from his restraints, he reached out to grab the Joker in an attempt to resist.
However, he was seriously injured and had been in the hospital for so long, so he was no match for the Joker.
He was subdued by the clown in no time and pinned to the hospital bed, unable to move.
"I just did what I do best: I took advantage of your little scheme and made you reap what you sow."
Look what I've done to this city, all I used were a few barrels of gasoline and a few bullets.
The Joker looked intently at Harvey, still with a serious expression.
"Do you know what I discovered? When everything went according to plan, no one panicked, even though the plan was terrifying."
If you tell the media tomorrow that a juvenile delinquent will be shot or a truckload of soldiers will be blown up.
No one will be afraid, because it's all part of the plan.
But if I said that a little old mayor would die, everyone would go crazy!
The clown danced wildly and spoke in a crazy tone.
But his words made Harvey think. At this moment, Harvey seemed to forget to resist and instead looked at the Joker seriously.
Seeing Harvey's expression, the Joker knew it was time.
He pulled a revolver from his pocket, twirled it twice, and when he stopped, the muzzle was pointed directly at the clown's palm.
"Let's introduce some anarchy." The Joker shoved the gun into Harvey's hand. "Disrupt the established order, let everything become chaotic."
As he spoke, the clown cocked the revolver, held Harvey's hand, and helped him press the gun against his forehead.
"I am the agent of chaos. Oh, do you know what chaos is?"
Harvey's eyes darted around on his face, which revealed half of its muscles, indicating that he was thinking.
"That's fairness; everyone is treated fairly!"
